Background
- Mining client based in remote location
- Challenges with stock management and systems not aligned to business needs
Client needs
- Procurement and warehouse processes in need of improvement, desire to move to best practice processes
- Need to optimise ERP system and maximise its potential
- Communication issues between procurement and end users leading to inconsistent supply and stock holding (including high stock losses)
- Critical timeframe to achieve operation project expansion milestones
What we did
The client outsourced the warehouse operations to our specialist on-site team who developed a clear program to meet KPI’s that were aligned to our client’s targets. This included:
- Introduction of improved warehouse processes across all functions
- Redesign of warehouse layout for efficient delivery of goods to operations
- Implemented a stock management program identifying min./max. level and critical items
- Established local sourcing network to compliment a global OEM partnership program
- Training programs implemented to upskill local personnel and build internal capability
The outcome
In our first 12 months we reduced stock losses by 90%, which was a significant KPI for the client. Overall, we delivered significant, measurable improvements across the total end-to-end supply chain and lowered overall operating costs.
